JAKE TRAINOR - NEMA
LITE #8T |
2019 Has Familiar
Faces and a New Youth Atop NEMA & Lite Point Standings |
The 2019 NEMA season is
barely 3 races old and it is shaping up to be a great
season. While there is a 7 time champion, a 3 time champion,
and a back to back NEMA Lite Champion in the top 10, there
are a few familiar names that are steady in the top 10 in
points this season.
Mike Horn won the opening race at
Lee Speedway. He followed his win up with a 3rd at Wiscasset
Speedway and had a DNF at Seekonk. Mike now sits 3rd in
points, 44 markers out of 1st.
Doug Cleveland is the
Iron Man of NEMA, with over 40 years in the club. 2019 has
started out well for Doug as he sits 5th in points after 3
races. He's already got one top 5 this season and is gearing
up to back that one up with more this season!
Race
fans don't find it hard to find Matt O'Brien at the race
track. They just look for the driver in the Captain America
uniform or the #16 Midget with the Tiger strips. Matt's a
long time NEMA driver that also finds himself in the top 10
in points this season, he is currently 7th.
It's all
about youth in the NEMA Lites so far this season. The top
two drivers are both teenagers, two very fast teenagers!
While most kids their age sitting home playing video games,
these two come to the race track each week to win!
Jake Trainor is in his 2nd season of competition in the NEMA
Lite division. After 5 races, he finds himself at the top of
the point standings with five top 5 finishes - three of them
were 2nd place finishes!
Ryan Locke sits 2nd in
points after five races. He is coming off a win in the 50
Lap Boston Louie Race at Seekonk and his team has some
awesome momentum going into the rest of the season.
These are just some of the stories that is happening with
NEMA. Come out to a track and watch the stars and cars of
the NEMA and NEMA Lites this season. Check our website for
our schedules, news and results. |

STEVE PAPPAS |
Steve Pappas was a
loving father and husband who dedicated his life to helping
others. He worked with the our family for over 50 years and
was an integral part of Seymour Performance Products.
He was a true craftsman that could always find a way to
take care of the racer. It's safe to say that every NEMA
team has been helped by Steve at some point.
He was
an avid chef and loved nothing more than his family.
We will miss Steve dearly and our lives will never be
the same without him. We ask that you keep his children, AJ
and Tiffany, and wife, Linda in your prayers during this
difficult time.
Regards, The Seymour Family
